My New Girl
Well, there it is...the new wheels. It's a Bianchi Eros and after our first ride, I guess I'll keep her. Lora and I took a nice morning route north and back...about 24 miles. I was a little worried for the first half. My feet were killing me. I guess it has to do with getting used to bike shoes and their application. We took a quick breather after the 1st 12 and walked/stretched a bit. After that no pain...go figure :)
Speaking of bike shoes, I was also initiated in the 'what happens if you have to stop kinda quick at an intersection' trauma. Yep, we were at an intersection and my fearless leader kinda slowed down and as I approached her I needed to stop kinda quick. Did I mention this was the first time wearing bike shoes? Well, a quick sense of panic ensued and yep...fell over like a mighty Sequoia. I have to work on my escapability from the bike clips. Nothing major....some scrapes and a bruised ego.
Well, I'm researching some possible names for my new bike...any suggestions? Iris is already taken :)
As for this past Friday, Son Volt was a great time at the Taste of Randolph St. Next Saturday should be a great show on the lakefront. The Black Crowes along with Robert Randolph & the Family Band and the Drive By Truckers should leave my eardrums needing an icepack.

Wow - very cool! Is it a boy or girl?
thanks for the tip on flatman's entry...went, read, commented! Check!
(nice bike. and good job on um, getting back up!)
Nice ride!!! Everyone falls first time they use clipless pedals, so don't feel bad. However, you feet should NOT be killing you... sounds like you go the wrong size shoe, or maybe just the wrong shape for your foot. I'd go back to wear ya bought 'em and make an exchange.
Man, I so need a road bike. anyone who is anyone is getting one. Why did I get that hybrid? Man o man That is what I get for buying too early. Oh well. I guess its better to buy cheap and wish for more than buy too expensive and wish you never bought it.
HATE...LOATHE those toe clips. I've had one too many accidents on them!
Nice bike!!! What kind of Ksyriums are those?
I actually had to Google to find out what the heck a Ksyrium was...I am but a caveman in your high tech biking world.
But according to the Bianchi website, the wheels are called Mavic Askium and they are new for 2006. That make any sense to you? Because to me they are shiny things with spokes that help support my girth...lol
I think they are comparable to my Ksyrium Equipes. You'll like them!!! Again, nice ride :-)
Fun new toy!!! I have fallen many a time because of the bike shoes. You get rather good at it eventually!
